Husky

Eh. I decided to get a special Copic pad just to see what it's all about. There are pros and cons to the pad for me, which I'll explain in a moment. I'll describe the image quick.

This is a girl I based off of a Siberian Husky picture I saw. It was a red and white husky with heterochromia. I tried to make her Eskimo/Russian-esque, that's why the eyes are so different than I normally do. She's holding a diphtheria antitoxin (from Balto? hehe) and gold and she's SUPPOSED to be lying on her back in snow. But, you know, Mandy and backgrounds never mix very well. Haha.

So, the paper:

Pros:
- amazing with layers. Her undershirt is all the same color in different layers
- the color scans really well
- bleedproof for the most part through the back

Cons:
- when I was erasing my sketchlines after inking it faded my ink a LOT
- it doesn't blend very well BECAUSE it's bleedproof. I like a little bit of bleeding so my colors are almost gradiented a bit instead of HERE'S THE BASE, HERE'S THE SHADE. I like the gradual color change. I even tried the colorless blender and it pretty much did NOTHING.

I think this special paper takes some getting used to. I've trained myself to work with the bleeding of sketchbook paper or pen-paper which I normally use for my marker work. So I think it's something I just have to continue to use to get the hang of. I'm sure you'll see more from me with this paper soon! :]]

Naiad rage

Challenging myself with a "monster" design. Naiads, I'm pretty sure, aren't really viewed as monsters. That's why I added the "rage". Hehe. I don't know about you, but I'd be afraid to litter in her river!

Just a tablet sketch because I neglect my amazing Bamboo wayyyy too much.

My penpal sent me samples of eyeshadow colors: blue, emerald, and lavender. So I decided to draw something based on those colors :]

Ah, Copics, I love you.

Materials: Copics, Prismacolor & Blick markers, white gel pen, brown Micron, and inked with purple Bic ballpoint pen.

Alexandros

Ahh, I'm doing such a terrible job of keeping up with this blog. My excuse is I haven't been drawing much. I just started painting and I've been doing a lot of writing with Devin. Which brings me to this.

This is Devin's character Alexandros Falor, Alex for short. Devin asked me to draw references for him because he plans to do an animation with them so this won't be the last you see of him!!! The pose is a little unnatural, but I needed an open and closed hand/bent and outstretched arm. Full frontals are difficult for me to proportion out, especially with the face. I kept drawing the eyes too low until I used a reference of Light from Death Note...just to see where the eyes were in relation to the hair and whatnot. I'm pretty pleased :]. BTW, the sword is made of Stygian iron.

And I think that's all for tonight, kids. I'll try to post again soon.
